Classroom Programs for the 2007 - 2008 School Year

The Conserve Wildlife Foundation of NJ is excited to connect your classroom with New Jersey’s endangered and threatened wildlife and encourage the conservation of biodiversity here in New Jersey as well as everywhere on Earth.

The following is a list of classroom programs offered throughout the year. Programs are interactive slide show or PowerPoint presentations with hands-on activities for students to reinforce core concepts.

All programs address the NJ Core Curriculum Content Standards. Programs run approximately one hour. All programs can be modified to meet your classroom needs and abilities.

New Jersey’s Endangered and Threatened Wildlife: An overview of New Jersey’s rare wildlife residents.

Programs focused on Birds:
Bald Eagle – Back from the Brink of Extinction
Peregrine Falcon – Flying High in New Jersey
An Incredible Journey – Shorebird Migration

New Jersey’s Reptiles: An overview of New Jersey’s turtles, snakes, and lizards. Special focus on some of New Jersey’s most endangered reptile species such as the timber rattlesnake, bog turtle, wood turtle, and diamondback terrapin.

New Jersey’s Amphibians: An overview of New Jersey’s frogs, toads, and salamanders. Special focus on some of New Jersey’s rarest amphibian residents such as the Pine Barrens treefrog, blue spotted salamander, and Eastern tiger salamander.

Programs focused on New Jersey Habitats:

Choose one to explore its landscape ecology as well as the wildlife that call it home.

Highlands/Ridge and Valley – Species include the bobcat, Indiana bat, bog turtle, and timber rattlesnake.
Piedmont Plains – Species include the American kestrel, peregrine falcon, and wood turtle.
Pinelands – Species include the Pine Barrens treefrog, Northern pine snake, and corn snake.
Atlantic Coast – Species include the piping plover, black skimmer, osprey, and peregrine falcon.
Delaware Bayshore – Species include the red knot as well as the bald eagle and E. tiger salamander.
