Wildlife Action Plan Workshop - Delaware Bay

Explore and bird this beautiful undeveloped section of the barrier island! Meet at the Forked River Interpretive Center (within Island Beach State Park) for a roughly 3 mile walk.
Bring:
- plenty of water
- sunblock
- a hat with a brim
- binoculars if you have them (but spare binos are available).

Birding by Kayak Tour

7:30 - 11:00 a.m.
Forked River Interpretive Center, 7.1 miles south of the main gate. Let the gate attendant know that you are at the park for the Birding by Kayak program and you will not be charged an entrance fee.

The Birding by Kayak Tour is a 3 hour program designed to acquaint participants with the diverse avian life that can be found in salt marshes and along the bayshore. This tour is approximately 2-3 miles long. All necessary equipment (kayak, paddles, life jacket) is supplied.
-Minimum age is 14. An adult must accompany minors.
- Participants will be wading through shallow water. water shoes (not flip-flops) are required.
- Required Items:
- sunscreen/sun protection
- drinking water
- water shoes (no flip-flops)
- Suggested Items:
- Snacks
- binoculars
- camera
- dry bag
Reservation Information - 12 kayakers per Tour (6 tandem kayaks).
A telephone number and e-mail address is required to confirm the reservation.
The $25 per person fee must be received prior to the tour date to guarantee the reservations. Checks should be made out to Friends of Island Beach and sent to FOIBSP at P.O. Box 37, Seaside Park, NJ 08752.
There will be no refund for cancelled reservations unless cancellation is received at least 7 days before tour date.
The main gate (732) 793-0030 can be called after 6:30 a.m. the day of the tour for weather information.

Jose was a former Rutgers University Camden law professor and retired New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection official. He loved the outdoors and was spending his retirement working for Ironwood Outdoor Center's ropes course program. He had a passion for life and cared deeply about the environment, his friends and family. Jose died while spearfishing on May 15th.
The Adventure Day will benefit Conserve Wildlife Foundation's Sedge Island Intern Program.
