Join us and other environmental organizations at the Cumberland County Winter Eagle festival. Bald eagles are just some of the spectacular birds of prey to come out and observe as part of a day full of activities, walks, exhibits, speakers, book signings, vendors and tasty Down Jersey food.

Birding enthusiasts young and old will not be disappointed as experts and volunteers from New Jersey Audubon/Cape May Bird Observatory and Citizens United to Protect the Maurice River will be on hand with spotting scopes and a wealth of information to help identify wildlife and guide tours at various viewing sites.

Admission – $10.00 Adults / $5.00 Children 12 & under.

Free Transportation to and from the event is available for in-county seniors and disabled via the Cumberland Area Transit System. Please call (856) 691-7799 to arrange transport.

Join us at the for a special evening of art and wildlife at the Pollak Gallery at Monmouth University. This one-of-a-kind venue will feature select paintings from the Rare Wildlife Revealed: The James Fiorentino Traveling Art Exhibition.

Piping plovers are one of the most intensely managed and monitored breeding bird species in North America, including here in New Jersey. As a result, much is known about their breeding behavior, but until recently far less was known about them during migration and wintering. Recent research, especially in the Bahamas, has revealed new information about their wintering distribution and behavior. Todd will discuss these newer findings, as well as provide an update on their current status and reproductive success in New Jersey.

Admission: $3 for members and $5 non-members

Several strong volunteers are needed to help replace an osprey nesting platform at Cattus Island County Park in Toms River, NJ. The pole for the nest platform broke at the base.

We will meet at the entrance to the Nature/Visitors Center at the Park at 11:00am. We will provide all tools. The site is accessible via land and walkable from the Nature/Visitors Center. Please dress accordingly. Since we will be working on the saltmarsh, knee boots or hip waders are recommended. Bring a pair of work gloves and some water to stay hydrated. Work should take no more than 1-2 hours.
