Did you know that in the 1970's there was only one eagle nest left in NJ? Today, there are over 200 pairs being monitored. Join us to learn about NJ Eagle recovery project, current monitoring techniques, and their amazing comeback.

Conserve Wildlife Foundation of New Jersey (CWF) is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to the protection and preservation of New Jersey’s endangered and threatened wildlife and the habitats they depend on. We carry out our mission by researching and managing rare animal species, restoring habitat, educating New Jersey’s residents, and engaging volunteers in our conservation projects. Since the early 1990’s, CWF scientists and educators have helped conserve and protect a variety of at-risk species of wildlife in New Jersey, the most densely populated state in the nation.

When the first early spring rains come, thousands of salamanders, frogs, and toads emerge from their winter slumber. They make short, stealthy migrations through the forest to breed and lay their eggs in vernal pools.

We’ll take a flat ¼-mile walk to a vernal pool (½ mile round-trip) to explore an ecosystem that most people will never see! Guaranteed to be blasted by the songs of Spring Peepers and to discover salamander eggs, fairy shrimp, and other unique creatures as evening sets in. Learn how locals are helping protect Waterloo’s amphibian and experience the work CWF biologists do every day!

Bring your own flashlight and wear clean rubber boots! We will be exploring along the edge of the pool- so dress to stay dry and warm! Sun will set around 8:00 pm, so the woods will be dark on our way out.

Looking for something to do for Earth Day?

Join CWF and Leonardo State Marina as we plant a garden for our pollinators of New Jersey! We're looking for volunteers wishing to be a part of the movement to protect and conserve these beautiful creature by helping us to plant a monarch waystation. We will have activities for all ages, and tools will be provided, so just bring a smile!

Visit our table at the Atlantic County Utilities Authority's Earth Day Festival in the Atlantic City Electric tent.

One of the primary goals of ACUA Earth Day festival is to educate visitors about the importance of protecting our environment and show how easily we can all do our part.

The festival draws approximately 4,000 visitors and hosts over 140 vendors, crafters and exhibitors. Held rain or shine, there will be lots of free, fun and educational activities for everyone. The celebration has many new exciting events in addition to traditional favorites. Jitney tours to the solar and wind farm at ACAU's Wastewater Facility as well as "Eco" hayrides to the top of the landfill are always a hit + an art contest, yoga and a 5-K Fun Run!

New Jersey's magnificent raptors - including bald eagles, peregrine falcons, and ospreys - have made an inspiring recovery over the past few decades, thanks largely to the work of devoted biologists and faithful volunteers from Conserve Wildlife Foundation and the State Endangered & Nongame Species Program. Come and learn more about these incredible species, and the innovative work being done to study and protect them in the Garden State.

David Wheeler is the Executive Director of the nonprofit Conserve Wildlife Foundation (CWF). Mr. Wheeler has worked on wildlife conservation and environmental issues in New Jersey and beyond for more than a decade. He is the author of the 2011 book Wild New Jersey: Nature Adventures in the Garden State, and a contributor to the 2014 book, Bald Eagles in the Meadowlands and Beyond. Mr. Wheeler earned his M.B.A. from New York University's Stern School of Business and his B.A. from American University in Washington DC.

Activities include live animal demos, outdoor skills, educational displays, Recycling Olympics, live music, face painting, arts & crafts, giveaways, a petting zoo, bounce house, vendors, food, and more!
