The Bobcat

I am a bobcat and I am on the endangered species list. Our species come in many different colors, like reddish orange, tan, brown, black, and grey or in all the colors at once. I am a medium size cat. We are two feet tall and weigh at least twenty pounds. Our breeding season is from February till June. We usually have our babies sixty days later and usually have one to six. The babies get weaned at about twelve weeks old and they leave their mother at ten to twelve months old and survive in the wild for twelve to thirteen years.

We are endangered because there has been a lot of hunting and trapping that has killed us and our food, like birds, rabbits, mice, and other ground animals. Also loss of our breeding grounds and homeland has been taken away by people for their own homes. This is why we are endangered.

People can help us not to be endangered by using less of woodsy and swampy land so that we can breed and live in our own territory and by not hunting us until we have repopulated enough. Help us not to become extinct and to come off the endangered species list.
