Soaring with STEAM Classroom Programs

Structured lessons with hands-on activities

We are highly trained biologists and environmental education specialists and are excited to share our experiences and knowledge with you.

Education is a vital component to protecting NJ’s wildlife. Our Soaring with STEAM Classroom Programs shares the stories of New Jersey’s rare wildlife. Learning about our wildlife neighbors and identifying the threats to their survival teaches students to consider how everyday actions impact the natural world around us.

Our educational program model includes:

  • Data collection and analysis for specific indicators and outcomes of success
  • Differentiated instructional options to meet the diverse needs of each district school and community
  • Certified teachers and science professionals teach each class.
  • Standards-aligned curriculum that reinforces what is being taught in your classroom
  • Live wildlife and experiential learning experiences for each class

CWF’s wildlife curricula use structured lessons with hands-on activities to address the Next Generation Science Standards, NJ Student Learning Standards, and National Art Standards to deliver quality STEAM programs through monthly in-school lessons, live wildlife visits, guest speakers from New Jersey’s top scientists, culminating and experiential field trips to help students reach their optimal potential to learn.

Raptor Lesson Plans

Teach about raptors in your classroom!

Wildlife webcams are used to address a variety of research and educational objectives and are innovative tools for learning about animal behavior. They also help watchers develop a connection to a place and the wildlife that lives there. CWF and Duke Farms are fortunate to co-host a wildlife cam that observes a pair of nesting bald eagles.

We’ve partnered with Duke Farms to connect teachers to biologists and develop lesson plans, and worked with IDE Corps to develop NGSS unit plans to expand our webcam resources.

Days of the Peregrine

NJ Live Falcon Cams

CWF’s Falcon Cams provide inspiration and educational opportunities for teachers who want to bring NJ’s wildlife into their classrooms. The Falcon Cams allow viewers the rare opportunity to see peregrine’s court, incubate, and raise their young.

Peregrine Lesson Plans

To help incorporate the cams into your lesson plans, we developed The Peregrine Project – a curriculum guide using the peregrine falcon to teach reading, writing, science, geography, technology, and art. Addressing the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards, the 23 lessons are multi-disciplinary.
