James Fiorentino

Rare Wildlife Revealed

CWF has partnered with renowned artist James Fiorentino for eight years to educate and inspire people by using art to illustrate conservation issues.

James Fiorentino’s evocative artwork inspires viewers through his lifelike depictions of rare wildlife in their natural surroundings. His watercolor paintings truly bring wildlife to life on paper. In doing so, his art helps to educate and engage viewers about the precipitous declines that many of these species have undergone. By putting a spotlight on these charismatic yet often-overlooked wildlife species, our partnership seeks to bring attention to the very tangible steps that people can take to save and strengthen these wildlife populations.

CWF’s partnership with James began in 2016 with the highly successful Rare Wildlife Revealed: The James Fiorentino Traveling Art Exhibition, a collection of twenty-five original watercolor paintings depicting some of New Jersey’s most endangered and vulnerable wildlife species. The exhibition was enjoyed by thousands of viewers at a wide variety of venues ranging from museums and universities to breweries and ballparks.

Now CWF has teamed up with James Fiorentino to produce a collection of twenty-five wildlife trading cards, each featuring his realistic watercolors of at-risk species paired with information about them. While James has created top-selling sports trading cards for brands like Topps and Upper Deck, this marks his first venture into wildlife art on trading cards. This exciting project blends his artistic skill with educational outreach to continue our efforts to raise awareness and support for the vulnerable species CWF works so hard to protect.

The new wildlife trading cards, along with paintings from the original Rare Wildlife Revealed collection, will be featured at a free exhibition and reception at Cape May Point Science Center, 101 Lehigh Avenue, Cape May Point, NJ 08212, on Saturday, October 19, 2024, 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Join us to hear about our work, especially our American Oystercatcher project in Delaware Bay, meet James Fiorentino, view original artwork, and enjoy light refreshments. (CWF Wildlife Biologist Emmy Casper will be giving a more extensive oystercatcher talk the evening before at CMPSC for those who want to know more about.)

RSVP for the October 19 reception by emailing Executive Director Liz Silvernail at liz.silvernail@conservewildlifenj.org.

Your support, at any level, will make a substantial impact on our dedicated scientists and educators who work tirelessly to protect and strengthen New Jersey’s at-risk wildlife populations.
